If you’re anything like me, you want a vacation that feels like a truly relaxing getaway for the whole family. Before our first cruise, we had people tell us that our kids would want to go to the Oceaneer’s Club over and over again. I scoffed, thinking that surely this would not be the case. After going to the open house on the first day and walking into Andy’s Room from Toy Story, I knew that I was about to be so wrong.
These themed wonderlands are staffed by people who have the patience of saints and the energy of golden retrievers. My kids practically sprint to check-in (or enter through the slide on the Treasure!).
The Oceaneers Club has tons of space for kids to wander from one area to the next, participate in dance parties, games, crafts, and more. This is also the spot where friendships are made!
For older kids, Edge and Vibe offer cool, tween and teen approved spaces where they can hang and meet other cruise guests their age.
And the best part? It’s all included. No nickel and diming for childcare.
Adult -Only Spaces That Feel Like a Real Vacation
Disney knows parents (and grandparents!) need a break, and they deliver:

That means that by night two, they already know who likes chocolate milk and which adult at the table is going to ask for extra bread. (Hi, it’s me!).
I love that, as a parent, you get a break from all of the meal planning, prep, and clean up. And Disney makes it seamless- you are already assigned a dining time and restaurant for each night. The hardest decision you have to make is- one dessert, or two?
Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay
Disney’s private islands, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay, offer the warm, tropical beach days you dream about when you are scraping ice off of your windshield in February.
They differ slightly in their offerings but usually include:
- a family beach
- an adult only beach
- kids’ play areas
- bike rentals
- snorkeling
- BBQ lunch
- and if you are lucky enough to snag one, a private cabana
Everything is organized, clean, and easy. There is no chaos or confusion over trying to plan what to do or where to go after stepping foot off the ship.

Of all of the destinations I have visited, Disney Cruise Line’s service is unmatched. The individual attention we have received has been nothing short of fantastic.
Your stateroom host will remember your name and your kids’ names. They always seem to be near when anything is needed. The guest service members will go out of their way to accommodate any request. The fairy godmothers at Bippidi Boppidi Boutique will boost your child’s confidence with affirmations while transforming them into a true prince or princess.
No ask is too big or too small and every guest is made to feel special.
A Vacation That Works for Every Age Group
While we have not traveled with extended relatives on a Disney Cruise, there are plenty of families who do. We appreciate how Disney finds a way to cater to babies, toddlers, kids, teens, adults, and grandparents- helping everyone find their groove.
Disney balances nostalgia with modern experiences so well that you’ll see grandparents energized, parents relaxing, and kids living their best lives.
It’s rare to find a vacation that works for everyone, but this one does!
